Capital Improvements Program

Project Description:

Washington, DC - The $5 billion Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s Capital Improvements Program provides for needed improvements including the purchase of new, state-of-the-art rail cars and rehabilitation of some of the oldest segments of the Metrorail system, as well as replacement vehicles for Metrobus and MetroAccess. The highest priority will be to improve the safety of the system by fixing the track signal system, replacing the 1000 series rail cars, installing guarded turnouts, buying equipment for wayside worker protection and installing rollback protection on cars that are not equipped with this safety feature.

LKG Scope of Work:

LKG was retained by the program management consultant to provide construction administration, document control and other services. LKG responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain contract files.

  • Distribute RFIs and submittals. Ensure compliance with contract time commitments

  • Assist with progress meetings and the preparation and distribution of minutes

  • Assist with review of invoices and progress payments and prepare documents for approval
